Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Nottingham
Festival Auditions Announced
The Nottingham Festival, sponsored by the
Simi Valley Cultural Association and Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Simi,
announces auditions for their upcoming weekend renaissance faire, coming to the
Ventura County area in Simi Valley on Nov. 16 and 17.
Organizers are seeking talented, dynamic and outgoing stage acts, acoustic music and dance groups to perform on one of our four stages. They are also seeking strolling or stationary musicians and entertainers that will interact with the audience, in addition to helping create an “ambiance” and live soundtrack throughout the grounds of the festival.
If this sounds like you--if this sounds like fun--and if this is something any performers interested are ready to jump in and commit to, please join the organizers for open auditions on Sat. July 27 at 11 a.m. at the Simi Valley Town Center, 1555 Town Center Way, Simi Valley, CA 93065. For more information and to schedule an appointment please contact the Entertainment Director, Carlos PeƱaranda, at carlos@nottinghamfestival.com.
The Nottingham Festival is a traditional renaissance faire and market place focusing on education and entertainment of a specific historical time period, so it is asked that all performers and acts be willing to gear their entertainment toward the 16th century Elizabethan era of England. Organizers are aware that certain theatrical “liberties” will need to be taken with regard to period vs. non-period content, but keep modernisms and anachronisms to a clever minimum. This is an outdoor event so participants must be willing to work in the open air during the month of November. In an effort to remain “acoustic,” electricity will be provided in limited capacity, so bear in mind that performers will be unplugged and un-mic’d. Opportunity for pay is possible but not guaranteed.
