The Last Five Years Audition- Elite Theatre Company, Oxnard

The Elite Theatre Company is casting The Last Five Years
a two-person, song-cycle musical. 
Rehearsals are January-February, 2013; performances run February 22 - March 30, 2013, at 2731 S. Victoria Avenue, Oxnard, CA. 
Auditions will be held by appointment only, between January 3-12, 2013. All roles are open. To schedule an audition, please e-mail head shot and resume to auditions@elitetheatre.org

"Cathy" - female; 20-30; strong singer, actor. Please prepare 16 bars of an appropriate song for the audition and be prepared to read from the script.

Share Your Vision of America- New West Symphony, Photo Contest



NEW WEST SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES
“SHARE YOUR VISION OF AMERICA” COMMUNITY PHOTO CONTEST

The public is invited to participate in a community-wide photography contest, “Share Your Vision of America,” sponsored by the New West Symphony.  The contest is being held in conjunction with the Symphony’s Masterpiece Series concert Visions of America – A Celebration of Democracy.  The concert will take place January 25, 26 and 27, 2013.  Submissions of original photography are being accepted now through January 17, 2013.

The concert, which is subtitled “A Photo-Symphony” will feature a stunning multimedia portrait of America as seen through the images of “America’s Photo Historian” Joseph Sohm. Mr. Sohm, a former high school history teacher, spent 30 years traveling across America photographing his vision of democracy. An Ojai resident, he is internationally recognized for his work which is reproduced around the world from his stock photo library more than 20,000 times per year.  Further concert details may be found at www.newwestsymphony.org.

Contest Details
The photo contest is open to all ages.  Residents must live in Ventura or Los Angeles counties. Submit your best original photo, accompanied by a paragraph of 100 words or less explaining why it is an expression of your personal vision of America.   Be sure to include your name and address on each entry.  There is no cost to participate.

Photo contest entries will be judged by Joseph Sohm and the top three winners will be invited to attend and have their work displayed at the Visions of America concerts.

First Place Winner
·      A Subscription to New West Symphony’s 2012-2013 “Spring Quartet” 4-Concert Series
·      VIP seating for the winner and one guest at a performance of the Visions of America concert on January 25, 26 or 27, 2013
·      The First Place photograph exhibited in the Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica theatre lobbies during the Visions of America concerts
·      The First Place photograph displayed on the New West Symphony website

Submission Guidelines
Submit entries to the New West Symphony between now and January 17, 2013. Winners will be announced on January 21, 2013, when the winners’ names and winning submissions will be published on the New West Symphony website at www.newwestsymphony.org. 

Photographs
Essays or photographs (color or black-and-white) must be submitted digitally as a .jpg to marina@newwestsymphony.org with Share Your Vision of America Contest in the subject line. Participants may also submit mounted photography to the New West Symphony office 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The office is located at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza at 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Suite D in Thousand Oaks.

Pianist Norman Krieger to Make New West Symphony Debut in
Gershwin’s Concerto in F Major for Piano and Orchestra
           
The New West Symphony will present the West Coast premiere of Visions of America: A Celebration of Democracy on the third concert of its 2012/2013 Masterpiece Series.  The multimedia work features projected photographs by Joseph Sohm accompanied by music of composer Roger Kellaway.  Mr. Kellaway, who will serve as pianist for the work, will be joined by vocalists Judith Hill and Steve Tyrell, and the New West Symphony Chorus. Pianist Norman Krieger, in his New West Symphony debut, will be the soloist for George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F Major.
Music director Marcelo Lehninger will conduct three performances of the concert. The first performance will take place on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 8:00 pm at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, located at 800 Hobson Way in Oxnard.  The program will be repeated on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 8:00 pm at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks and on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Santa Monica’s Barnum Hall, located at 601 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica.

Tickets:  Tickets priced from $25 to $100 are available by phone, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday at 1-866-776-8400.  Tickets are also available in person at the New West Symphony office, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday and through the Symphony web site at www.newwestsymphony.org, 24/7.   Tickets are also available at the respective concert hall box offices. Student Rush tickets priced at $10 are available at the concert hall box offices beginning 30 minutes prior to the performance.
Hear & Now Live:  This lively and informative, pre-concert discussion about the music on the program begins at 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings and 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.  The programs are free and open to ticket holders for the respective performances.
