directed by John Dantona, an after school arts and culture enrichment program being offered to high school aged students (15-18 years). Literature in Action is sponsored in part by Wells Fargo and Target Stores, and is a FREE after school workshop that will focus on the elements of the play, while mounting a full production that will perform at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center on June 4, 5 and 6 at 7:00pm.
The program starts on April 15 and will meet after school (4:00pm - 7:00pm - or possibly include a weekend afternoon) 3 to 4 times a week in Simi Valley.
The Crucible is a dramatic work by American playwright Arthur Miller. The play, first produced on Broadway in 1953, illustrates the story of the Salem witch trials of 1692-1693. Miller's tragic drama follows the protagonist John Proctor and his plight for justice amongst mass hysteria, and metaphorically examines the motivations and corruption of the McCarthy era in Miller's own time.
